About this deal

Naked is successful because it’s the palette you reach for when you say goodbye to one version of yourself and hello to your new makeup self. It’s the epitome of makeup evolution right before your eyes, and as Zomnir put it so perfectly, “evolution is, as always, the key.” Half Baked is a coppery brown with a golden shimmer-sheen. It’s very frosty but has good color payoff and a smooth texture. It’s part of the permanent range and is also in the Naked 1 palette. This shade is similar to a whole slew of others: theBalm Manic Maribel, Bare Escentuals Louder, MAC Amber Lights, theBalm Meep Meep, and Inglot #405 (and there are probably more). Booty Call is a peach-tinted white-beige with a frosted finish. It’s new for this palette. It’s just a little peach compared to Urban Decay Virgin. It’s also similar to shades like MAC Vanilla, MAC Baby It’s Cold, Urban Decay Skimp, Inglot #353, and MAC Brule. But all the Naked palette drama had us thinking about where it all started. So to uncover more about the origin of the Naked Palettes and their evolution, we sat down with Urban Decay mastermind, founder and Chief Creative Officer Wende Zomnir for a little Naked Palette History 101. Here’s what we learned.

We hope this post has helped guide you toward some more affordable yet high-quality eyeshadow palettes to help get you on the way to amazingly beautiful eye makeup looks. We also hope we helped you find the Urban Decay Naked palette dupe of your dreams! Pistol is a dirty gray-brown with a frosted finish. I’m hesitant to call it a taupe, because it has a lot of brown in it. The payoff is good, and the texture is soft and smooth. It’s similar to theBalm selfish and NARS Bali (but matte). It doesn’t compare to any shades from Naked 1. The Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet comes with standard warm browns and beiges and then gradually transitions into loud, glittery and electric hues of blues and purples making it easy to brighten and highlight eyes in a not-so-subtle format that will have heads turning. The brush that comes with the palette is not bad, but I would say that the flatter brush is not always precise enough for more clearly defined looks. I use the brush mostly for creating smoky looks, or when I contour areas of my face that need a brush that is smaller than a regular contour brush. We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/whenanswered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but Concerning the colors in between, Lorac in some ways even outperforms the original Urban Decay palette. This Lorac palette beats the newly released UD “Reloaded” palette in terms of color, because it offers not only peach and warm browns, but also cool toned colors such as “slate”, a silvery grey. Why This Urban Decay Palette Is Best Fittingly, Urban Decay has released what can only be called an obituary for its beloved palette, which has won both Allure Best of Beauty and Readers' Choice awards. "Today, the beauty world mourns Urban Decay’s beloved Naked Palette, the product that revolutionized neutral eyeshadows," the statement reads. "A little bit naughty, often dramatic, and always in the press, the innovative game-changer and category creator will be laid to rest after eight years, without a smudge of regret. Passionate Naked collectors — and pretty much anyone with eyes — will remember Naked as the beauty product that changed their lids forever. It was beautiful and mythical and millions of superfans, from misfits to moms to models, will miss Naked from Virgin to Gunmetal." I wanted to love this. I wanted to love it *so much*. I'd heard sooo much about Naked (original) but it just looked too warm for my skin (though I do have a slight yellow-leaning tone, most warm shades look awful on me!). Naked2 seemed ideal, with it's "greige" (aka grey-beige) and taupe shades - right up my alley, I thought! The quality sure is there; I could immediately see what people are so crazy for UD shadows! You need the lightest hand for the shadows as they're so pigmented. They feel creamy to apply and only the most glittery shadows have much fallout.

Similarly, the Luxaza Purple palette offers similar benefits, though you should note that this particular palette leans more heavily on the bolder shades than it does any neutral colors. In fact, unlike the Naked Ultraviolet palette, you’ll only have one standard warm brown, a pastel yellow and a silvery gray…other than that, the rest are loud, bold and daring hues violet. There’s even a swatch of pink! There are definitely a couple of shades that stand out more - in my own palette, I find that I use Half Baked (glittery gold), Snakebite (shimmery brown), Pistol (shimmery grey), Verve (shimmery silver), YDK (glittery silver with a hint of pink), and Busted (shimmery dark purple-brown) a lot more than the other shades. Busted is a burgundy-tinted, deep brown with warm, golden undertones. It has a soft, frosted finish. The color payoff was good and the texture smooth, though a little less dense than other shades. It’s almost the same as Hustle from Naked 1. MAC Midnight Flurry is a bit more burgundy. theBalm Mahna Mahna is more intense, more red-toned. Wet ‘n’ Wild Comfort Zone is darker, as is MAC Smut. Suspect is a soft champagne-bronze with a frosted, metallic sheen. It has good color payoff but felt a touch powdery. theBalm Schitzo is more golden and smoother. Sidecar (from Naked 1) is just pinker. The Urban Decay Naked palettes were created to fulfill a need most individuals have, no matter their ethnicity or skin tone: the need to have all their favorite eyeshadow shades all in one place. “The Naked Palette was created to supply women and men with all their must-have shades to create their favorite looks, the ‘no makeup’ makeup look, to the office appropriate, to the dramatic and sexy smoky eye, and everything in between,” says Zomnir. This Cherry Palette with a wild cherry color selection is as unique as it is fun and flirty. Reviewers love how beautifully the colors apply and that it lasts a few good hours after application. Did you know, the Cherry Eyeshadow Palette is even scented with cherry! I did not have a lot of issues with fallout - the shades in this palette are not so pigmented that fallout is a major issue. However, on darker colours like Busted (this shades tends to crumble more than the others, probably because it is probably the most pigmented shade in the palette), you may want to apply some powder on your undereye area for safety before applying it. And the Naked Palettes really are universal —you can literally morph into another makeup version of yourself with the touch of any of the shadows. “The beauty of the Naked Palette is that you can do your makeup with it in the morning, throw it in your purse, and transform into a more dramatic look for the evening,” Zomnir adds. It’s the palette that evolves with it’s wearer, and that’s truly what makes the Naked collection so unique, standing out from its many competitors in the beauty market.

This is key to how the new Naked Cherry palette was created — all thanks to the constant shifts in the makeup social media world. “I always screenshot looks I like and keep them in an album,” says Zomnir. “I noticed that so many of my favorite eyeshadow looks featured ink and berry tones, done in a neutral way. So we decided to create a new Naked palette inspired by these shades, and when we saw them all together, the name ‘Cherry’ was obvious!”FeelUnique Harvey Nichols (UK) House of Fraser (UK) John Lewis (UK) LookFantastic Selfridges Sephora (BR) Sephora (FR) Sephora (PL) Urban Decay (CA)

Who else was totally bummed when Urban Decay discontinued the original Naked palette? We hear you. Thankfully, Urban Decay has since “reloaded” the original palette with 12 fascinating and highly pigmented colors, while releasing several other top notch palettes in its wake. But are there cheaper versions of these Urban Decay palettes out there, and if so, how do they perform? We will explore that and more in this post about the best Urban Decay Naked palette dupe, and other palettes that make great alternatives to other popular UD palettes. Urban Decay Dupes List It wasn’t until Naked2, Naked3 and the other color-centric Naked versions came out, however, that the Naked franchise redefined the eyeshadow family as a whole. It also raised the eyebrows of color-lovers everywhere — Urban Decay’s definition of neutral was expanding.Verve is a pale beige-gray with a pink tinge. This was in the Rollergirl palette. It doesn’t have a dupe or similar shade in the Naked 1 palette. NARS Grand Palais is several shades darker, while Wet ‘n’ Wild Comfort Zone is more golden and gray (less pink). Urban Decay Ruthless is more beige. Offering 12 highly pigmented shades, this Luxaza palette stands up to the opposition providing the warm and darker tones that the original offered while spicing things up a bit with more colorful glittery options like the Reloaded version does. To think that content creators everywhere are inspiring makeup brands is a stunning victory for aspiring gurus on all platforms of social media — Urban Decay Naked Cherry is proof that brands are listening, watching and paying attention.
