Ableforth'S Rum Rumbullion, 70cl
About this deal
A shipshape spiced concoction, Ableforth's Rumbullion! is crafted from a blend of fantastic venerable Caribbean rums, creamy Madagascan bourbon vanilla, vibrant orange peel, clove, cassia and a pinch of cardamom. Based on the kind of rich, full-bodied rums the seafaring fraternity would have enjoyed centuries ago, only the richest and most flavoursome rums are used in the creation of Ableforth's Rumbullion! providing a remarkable drinking experience, unrivalled in our modern era. Nose: A fabulously decadent nose of intense, sweet vanilla and flamed orange zest. The cardamom makes itself known by offering up an evocative suggestion of old-fashioned cola, and to this the cloves bring out a deep, dark complexity. Yet more sweetness with cinnamon, which melds beautifully with essential oil notes of Seville orange peel.
At the core of this fabulous winter warmer lies a blend of the very finest high proof Caribbean rum, to which was added creamy Madagascan vanilla and a generous helping of zesty orange peel. A secret recipe was followed, finished with a handful of cassia and cloves and just a hint of cardamom. Bathtub Gin is now available in Cask-Aged, Navy-Strength, Sloe and Old Tom variants, whilst the regular edition is also available in Magnum (1.5 litre) and Methuselah (6 litre) sizes. Bathtub has received Gold Outstanding and Master awards from the International Spirit & Competition and The Gin Masters respectively as well as Best Compound Gin at the World Gin Awards 3 years running (2014, 2015 & 2016) and 2 International Spirits Challenge Trophies! I can imagine Rumbullion would also be brilliant slightly warmed up but I don't think it needs it. It already provides a very satisfying warmth when drank straight. And if you fancy something different, Rumbullion sloe rum would be perfect for cloudy lemonade but personally, I think it would completely get rid of the great taste and complexity of the drink. The nose is wonderfully spicy, with clove and orange zest at the front. Orange, clove, caramel, and various other spices on the tongue. Good sweet and spicy finish. I do enjoy spiced rum at times, and I'm awarding this one a 9 in my "spiced" rum category, as its the best I've ever tried thus far. Its actually head-and-shoulders any spiced rum I've ever encountered. I'll hold the coveted "10" in reserve, in case I ever find a spiced rum that trumps this exceptionally fine spirit some day.

Rumbullion sloe rum has become one of my favourites especially during the Christmas period and it might replace the bottle of Graham port I had stored for the festive season.
