On the Volume 18 cover, Kanao was mistakenly drawn with her sword on the right side of her waist. Koyoharu Gotoge made a statement apologizing for this after the volume's release. [22] To prove my point, I’ll be writing this with a slightly more personal bent than I usually do, talking about my own experience with reading the Kimetsu no Yaiba manga and the reservations I had with it beforehand. Arguments Against Reading the Demon Slayer Manga

This book is great for both die-hard Demon Slayer fans and casual readers alike, as well as an appeal for anime watchers. It takes reading something from the beginning, and letting the narrative drawn you into its world to the point that you forget where you are or what time it is, for most readers to really appreciate the appeal and the power of an artist’s work. Simply put, Gotouge’s art is far from ugly. Kanao wears a slightly purple-tinted version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, just with a knee-length pleated skirt in place of the usual tattsuke-hakama pants. Over this, she wears a short white cloak, fastened on one side by a dark pink triple knot, also sporting knee-high lace-up white boots with tan soles, heels and toes. Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Hulu have certainly done their part in increasing the popularity of anime, and by extension, manga. Demon Slayer’s addition to the Netflix platform aided four Demon Slayer manga volumes to be on Kinokuniya USA’s list of the top-selling manga of January 2021. For many years, Kanao continued to show little emotion or desire. Despite this, after seeing what Demons did to Aoi, Kiyo, and Shinobu's loved ones, Kanao developed a strong hatred against Demons directly from her own will. Shinobu, oblivious to this fact, was afraid that she wasn't acting on her own volition.Kanao's entire surname contains the Nanori for "chestnut" ( 栗 ( つ ) , tsu ?), "flower, blossom" ( 花 ( ゆ ) , yu ?) and "fall" ( 落 ( り ) , ri ?). Her first name contains the katakana characters for "ka" ( カ , "ka" ?), "na" ( ナ , "na" ?) and "wo" ( ヲ , "wo" ?) respectively. If manga is not enough Demon Slayer content for you, then look no further than light novels by Aya Yajima! In Taisho-era Japan, kindhearted Tanjiro Kamado makes a living selling charcoal. But his peaceful life is shattered when a demon slaughters his entire family. His little sister Nezuko is the only survivor, but she has been transformed into a demon herself! Tanjiro sets out on a dangerous journey to find a way to return his sister to normal and destroy the demon who ruined his life. Later, during the final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Kanao was shown to have completely regained the ability to properly express her emotions and make her own choices. Over the course of the battle, Kanao shows visible feelings of anger and terror towards the Demon progenitor as her and her fellow Demon Slayers take him on. Even after the battle is over she continues to show emotion, proving herself to genuinely love and care for both Tanjiro and Nezuko after watching the latter's desperate attempts to reach out to her now Demonized brother, which even reached the point of her sacrificing her one remaining eye to inject Tanjiro with Tamayo's humanization drug in an attempt to save him. Synopsis: Tanjiro and Nezuko cross paths with two powerful Demons that fight with magical weapons. Even help from Tamayo and Yushiro may not be enough to defeat these Demons who claim to be a part of the Twelve Demon Moons that directly serve Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon responsible for all of Tanjiro's woes! But, if these Demons can be defeated, what secrets can they reveal about Muzan?

The dark and mature underlying themes of the manga are often contested by its comical and child-friendly characters like the role-model lead, Tanjiro Kamado, or cowardly but endearing Zenitsu Agatsuma. Young readers will find themselves laughing hysterically at the latter along with the head-charging “boar,” Inosuke Hashibira. Mature readers will still be enthralled by the team’s adventurous motives leading them to explore the fantasy world filled with Japanese lore and mythology before vanquishing foes and protecting the human race. Synopsis: Tanjiro finally chases down the main body of the upper-rank demon Hantengu. However, dawn is approaching, and the rising sun is a threat to Nezuko. Tanjiro's concern for his sister is a distraction from the focus he needs to fight Hantengu, and if he hesitates it could be the last mistake he makes! Elsewhere, Tamayo ponders the nature of Nezuko's curse and how she could be so different from other demons. Synopsis: Tanjiro and Tomioka confront Akaza, the Upper-Rank 3 demon. Against Akaza's overwhelming strength, the two find themselves unable to do anything but defend themselves. With the situation looking grim, Tanjiro awakens to the Transparent World his father once told him about. Will this new knowledge allow Tanjiro to turn the tables and go on the offensive against Akaza?Synopsis: After their initial confrontation with Kokushibo, the most powerful of Muzan's demons, Tokito is severely wounded and Genya has been cut in half—but is still alive! Can his regenerative power heal even this fatal wound? Then the Hashira Himejima and Sanemi square off against Kokushibo and unleash all the skill they have against him. Himejima is blind, but if he can see into the Transparent World, he might have a chance. Who will survive this whirlwind of flashing blades? Learning to destroy demons won’t be easy, and Tanjiro barely knows where to start. The surprise appearance of another boy named Giyu, who seems to know what’s going on, might provide some answers—but only if Tanjiro can stop Giyu from killing his sister first! Another example is Tokyo Ghoul, the anime adaptation of which, I had heard, doesn’t measure up to the manga. So I’ve never seen it. Instead, I went straight for the Tokyo Ghoul manga instead.
