Powerless: The must-read, small-town romance and TikTok bestseller! (Chestnut Springs Book 3)
About this deal
I’ve just started this series and I’m ready for a reread. The writing, this small town, the family, the characters, the humour, the emotions… everything about it has worked for me. I was already obsessed with Jasper before reading this book. But now? I bow down at his alter, because the man is a god. He's everything I didn't know I needed and I will never have enough. Jasper and Sloane have been friends since childhood. Jasper is the epitome of tortured, with his brooding and his troubled childhood. Sunny has always been his happy place (with his found family of course) but he never looked at her as more than a friend, while Sunny has been in love with him for most of her life. When Sunny finally has a wake up call about her douchebag of a fiancé and leaves him shortly before their wedding, Jasper is right there to help her escape. The escape leads to a journey neither of them expected. Two childhood friends. Two broken hearts. One impromptu road trip to get away from everything. That’s all this was supposed to be. Afterall, I’ve been living in the friend zone for years now.
Willa is 25. She should be out partying with her friends and having fun, but that's not who she is. She's sassy, but vulnerable. She knows what she wants, but sometimes insecure. She doesn't take herself seriously, and sometimes is unable to see the wonderful person she is. Because she is pretty much amazing. She's not sure where her life is headed, until one summer changes everything.
When will my order arrive?
Cade and Willa's story is best described by Summer as follows: "It's two people who were both a little lost until they ended up on the same path and walked together for a while."
childhood friends to lovers just always hits different. sloane was so admirable, even tho it took her such a long time to see how much her father controlled her life, she stood her ground against him and her shitty ex fiancé 🙌🏽 and the way that she always understood jasper, and the fact that he had never told anyone what had happened besides her 🥺 and when he told her his trauma she cried for him when they were only teens 💔 What was going on with Beau was pretty interesting and added a lot to the book, I think the bond between Beau and Jasper plus his actual role in the Eastons family was well caricatured this way so we could understand better why he didn’t want to risk it all. when i said i wanted a empty brain and a stupid lil cowboy romance, this is what i meant!! the plot was actually interesting and had a little more to it, which i enjoyed somehow. It’s also a journey of personal growth for both of them, and although they’re there for each other, they each need to come to their own conclusions about what matters in life. And what they would give up, or just give, for their person. I teared up, I was turned-on, I screamed, screeched like a teenager... I completely lost my shit over Heartless and you will too. Mark my words. And don’t get me started on Willa in general.. SHE’S JUST SO FREAKING AMAZING!! I’m absolutely in love with her!! She’s just such a fun and incredible woman and I would get on my goddamn knees for her!! She’s one of the best FMCs (of the romance genre) everrr istg!!
Suddenly I'm not measuring time. I'm measuring inches, because her hand is mere inches away from feeling just how much I don't dislike her. Not even one bit." Sloane and Jasper have been friends for 18 years. She was just a child when they met, and he was sort of adopted into the Eaton family. From the first time she saw him, though, there’s always been something there, but she’s never done anything about it. Powerless is the third book in Elsie Silver’s ‘Chestnut Springs’ series and I am obsessed! Seriously, every book in this series is incredible! Friends to lovers, age gap, unrequited love, sports romance and forced proximity. So many troupes I love!Easy, Tink,” the man says good-naturedly but a little teasing. “You’re gonna pop a blood vessel stomping around like that.”“Tink?” she shouts, pulling up about six feet from him, not at all affected by his good looks. He waves a hand over her casually. “Yeah. You’ve got this whole angry little Tinkerbell vibe happening. I dig it.” THERES LITERALLY SO MUCH MORE I WANT TO ADD BUT UNFORTUNATELY IM RUNNING ON 3 HOURS OF SLEEP, 2 MONTHS WORTH OF CAFFEINE, AND 2 BARELY FUNCTIONING BRAiN CELLS Oh man. This was amazing. I can’t even think right now because my brain feels fried. Which is a combination of how amazing this story was and the fact that I’m not used to staying up well into the early mornings to finish a book. Billie is talented. She's mouthy. And she's so damn tempting. I can't stop thinking about all the ways I could take her down a peg.
The ending ended with a very cute little surprise 🥺 there was a little drama in the end but it wasn't stretched for chapters and chapters and everything was perfect. I'm so happy for Cade, Willa and their sweet wholesome adorable family. The beginning of this book was him being grumbly, and her being fun, but both of them being hot for each other and fighting it. Pretty standard for this trope. They dance around each other, he resists because he’s too old for her, she’s his nanny etc etc. until he stops resisting and then hoo doggie, things got really hot down at the ranch. I love it when a taciturn grouch turns into a dirty talking boss in the bedroom. And Cade had a filthy mouth and bossy ways. 🥵 Because Summer isn’t just another conquest. She sees the man behind the mask, and she doesn’t run—she pulls me closer, even when she shouldn’t.this whole series is just perfection. the women are so funny, fiery, and lovable. the men are all so sweet but also possessive and protective as hell. the interactions between them all always have me laughing out loud. i can't wait for more. What are you doing?” I grumble as I wipe at my watery eyes, no doubt smudged with mascara. “Taking care of you.” idk about yall but him taking off her makeup was my last straw
