About this deal

lens on a smaller sensor the 12-40 is not a bokeh bravo but it can still produce nice smooth backgrounds at the longer end, with very little evidence of the 'onion' shapes which often characterise aspherical elements, and none of the nasty jitter that can sometime be seen on the Panasonic 12-35 f2. That is not the case with the PEN F and the 12-40mm, I already made a lot of family shots, personal work and paid work with it. I still love the Pany 25mm and the images it puts out, and it’ll still be my go to when want the max DOF and sharpness or I’m taking portraits and the conditions aren’t a worry. When using Olympus cameras, users can set the camera to "S-AF+MF," and after half-pressing the shutter and achieving AF, you can turn the focus ring and make manual focus adjustments. Olympus has a history of making really great glass, especially with its older, larger Four Thirds system.

The front element does not extend nor does it rotate during focusing (and zooming), making accessories such as circular polarizers easy to use with this lens.was the first of Olympus's PRO series of lenses, designed as fast aperture zooms for the working professional, built to offer the quality and withstand the beatings such users expected. If you pixel peep, you'll find that it's a tad softer in the corners when zoomed past 25mm, but that's about it. I’ve been rocking a PEN F and a Zuiko 12-40mm pro for a few months now, here’s a real world review of it.

I’m recommending this lens to any micro 4/3 shooter and I’m curious about the already announced ‘Olympus M. Olympus uses their “splash proof" label for the 12-40mm, indicating resistance to dust, water, and cold. I switched from taking panoramas of a vast landscape, to pictures of my wife and dog in a dim forest, to bokeh-full shots of the wildlife and nature around me.I wasn't expecting these results given the heavy compensations that are necessary to correct the linear distortion. I have to admit that I’ve been very skeptical upfront about the image quality this zoom-lens can deliver, in respect to my prime lenses, but without any reason as it turned out quickly.

In the case of the Olympus at shorter focal lengths the lens doesn’t have to be stopped down at all. Since then, he's learned and adapted to various things in the fields of social media, SEO, app development, e-commerce development, HTML, etc. That’s because its protected by an advanced system of seals that keeps you working no matter how harsh it gets out there. In fact, I am using the 12mm f/2 less and less not because I don’t like it but because when I work it would be just a double for me. For the last couple of years I have had two staple lenses, that I carry 90% of the time I have my camera in hand. So this lens for me not only completely replaced the Oly 12-50mm, but most importantly it also covers a lot of the shots and situations that would normally have me reaching for my Pany 25mm.
