Made using only the finest ingredients, and drawing on centuries of brewing expertise, this range of fresh new beer flavours celebrates Britain’s wild, eccentric past with consistent hoppy brilliance pour after pour. Level Head commemorates St Edmund, the original patron saint of England, who was beheaded by the Vikings in 869 AD and gave his name to Bury St Edmunds. Our hometown of Bury St Edmunds takes its name from King Edmund, the original Patron Saint of England and King of East Anglia. Finally, the beer is “dry hopped” – the addition of fresh hops prior to packaging – with Centennial, Galaxy and Mosaic. Greene King has launched four new beers that reflect the brewery’s 200 year-old history along with the far older history of its home town, Bury St Edmunds. A nod to the legend of our very own St Edmund, beheaded by Vikings in 869, his head was miraculously reunited with its body by a ghostly wolf, and his sainthood assured. The range includes Flint Eye, a dry hopped lager named after a Neolithic flint arrow head found in the town.
