On top of that, the streamer also includes episodes from the official podcast where hosts Jason Concepcion and Greta Johnsen interview the showrunners and cast members, so this is yet another missed opportunity for the box set.Seeing as House of the Dragon takes places 200 years before that I really wouldn't be getting your hopes up. House of the Dragon was easily one of my favorite shows of this year, so when given the opportunity to review the Season 1 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, I jumped at it. The dragon effects work has really come a long way since GOT S1, so much so that we may take for granted that dragons are pure fantasy. Giant Targaryen statues stand in the throne room while the Iron Throne literally stretches out with more melted down swords or dragon skulls are placed with a religious-like reverence, something much different to the original series.
And won't tell you anything you've not already learned if you're watched the season before you watch this. House of the Dragon: The Complete First Season features a wealth of bonus features that aren’t seen much on physical media these days.

Rhaenyra all the more amazing, something that D'Arcy may be the beneficiary of once D'Arcy assumes the role.The visual effects also stand out as there are many more dragons in this show, each one given its own distinctive features, and a few battle sequences that showcase the devastation dragons add to the chaos. The music by Ramin Djawadi is top notch as always, reusing themes from the original show just in the right amount while starting to introduce all the new themes and leitmotifs. The 4k Blu-ray video plays at 3x the bitrates, with absolutely no banding or image degradation found in any of the scenes. What's more disappointing is that you would actually be able to access more content through an HBO Max subscription. If you're still watching in vivid mode, and don't know how to set up your display, I strongly recommend that you at least get your TV in the correct mode, and get your black levels, contrast, and color setup properly.
