About this deal

Utilising the GBA Link, Game Boy Advance players can hook into their Game Cube game, transferring maps, magical items and secret spells for added value. You play as Harry and you have to complete various tasks such as finding books in the library, spell challanges and flying lessons.

With flame-breathed dragons to outwit, diabolical mazes to conquer and even Lord Voldemort himself to contend with, Harry Potter fans are sure to find this latest adventure absolutely enchanting. Unique to this Harry Potter game, all characters have their own unique quotes for whenever they get hit by a spell. Amrich and Harris lamented the scarce save points, with the former claiming that "you should expect to play for an hour or two each time you pick it up if you want to make real progress".Diversions abound as you solve action-oriented puzzles with Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Albus Dumbledore and a host of unforgettable characters from the now internationally acclaimed J. The Game Boy Advance version was released with the other two versions in North America on November 16, 2001, and in Europe on November 23.

IGN commented on the game not forcing "random battes" from similar RPGs as a positive, but saying that it wasn't "enough to make Prisoner of Azkaban a successful RPG.When a mountain troll infiltrates Hogwarts, Harry and Ron notice Professor Severus Snape behaving suspiciously before they go to rescue Hermione from the troll. Dan Amrich of GamePro and Gerald Villoria of GameSpot regarded the game as a run-of-the-mill adventure title, but considered it to be more challenging than expected, which Villoria attributed to the delay in Harry's Flipendo spell and the erratic enemy AI.

Throughout the game, Harry learns spells by engaging in a Simon Says-like exercise in which the player must match the movements of Harry's professor with the D-pad.While it shares some similarities with the Game Boy Colour version, like the musical themes, sound effects and spell names, it's a very different experience. The quests are a strange mix of events from the story, classes where spells are learnt, puzzle platforming dungeons, and fetching the ingredients for a potion for Snape, which seems to span at least half of the game.

The game was released for PC by KnowWonder, whereas home consoles ( PlayStation 2 (PS2), Xbox and GameCube) by Electronic Arts UK (EA), and a handheld version by Griptonite Games for the Game Boy Advance (GBA). For unlike the Game Boy Color version, the game kicks off with Harry already at Hogwarts, and with some fast learning to do. At the school's end-of-year banquet, Dumbledore announces that Harry's acts of nerve and courage have won Gryffindor enough points to win them the House Cup.

The Gameboy Color versions of Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets are turn based RPG's along with Prisoner of Azkaban on GBA (all three were done by the same studio). The platforming is awkward, the enemies are badly programmed, and there's little enjoyable gameplay to be had.
