About this deal
Not to mention, his frequent sporting of a steel rod in his pants at the slightest provocation in those situations between them. I cringed so hard when the heroine took it upon herself to apologize to her backstabbing hs bff not only slept with the hero, but married him. And of course you have the whole scary villain character and story line Remi is all secretive about. So after he screws her into the ground, and walks out of her house telling her that they are over, leaving her naked and on the floor. They had a seriously intense push and pull happening and I could feel the angst and need between them.
Remi and Brick’s attraction/ crush they had for one another wasn’t just something out of the blue, it was something that was present even back when Remi was in high school. What is not clear at first, and brilliantly doled out like breadcrumbs, is what is holding Brick back.Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. Side characters never received any page time because, after 15 years of pining after each other, the few months this book takes place in is mostly page after page of unnecessary sex scenes over and over.i honestly expected to hate this book from the first 40 pages but i applaud lucy score for not only giving me a fav book but a couple that i cannot part with.
They had a brilliant frenemies vibe happening and I loved the tension, animosity, and verbal sparring. Lucy Score truly knows how to bring a unique, vibrant, fun, and compelling story to all her books and with each book of hers that I read, I not only fall more in love with Lucy, but her characters! Remi is in trouble but the plot keeps you wondering what it is that she is running from for some time. Why is the elephant in the room only dealt with at the end of the book and with absolutely no fanfare - I waited the whole book through for the verbal showdown between the h and ow, but no…. I’ll start with what I liked, for the most part I liked the FMC Remi, she’s unique, funny, and brash. Not when the man who broke her teenage heart into splinters keeps showing up at her parents’ dinner table. The tension between Brick and Remi was palpable through the pages and just when I thought they would finally give in, I was left with just a tease (but I enjoyed it nonetheless) in a way, it kind of felt a slow burn romance, since Remi and Brick’s had moments where they were so close to doing something more intimate, but then ultimately either something got in the way or more often it was Brick who didn’t want to cross that line. It's a lot of back and forth between the two with Brick being a Alpha who is grumpy but lovable and Remi the red haired pixie who has come back and turned his and her world in its side. It's a long, complicated history punctuated by fights, friendship, family, and an attraction that strains his iron willpower. There are wonderful, small-town gossipy folks, tight-knit to the core, that made the town seem like a character of its own.
