About this deal

On January 15, 2019, Nintendo held a promotional event for Fitness Boxing at Nintendo New York, which included a group of women led by Instagram fitness influencer Niki Klasnic playing the game. On August 26, 2021, an anime television series adaptation produced by Imagineer and Story Effect was announced. If you’d rather be able to choose which workout to try out, you may find better luck in Free Training. Like with the original Fitness Boxing, these are purely instrumental reimaginings of music, rather than the original tracks themselves.

I’ve touched on my personal fitness journey a few times in the past, but I think it’s important to mention how important Wii Fit and the balance board was for me. In the case of games that use cloud streaming technology, only the free launcher application can be downloaded. In this world of COVID-19, it would’ve been fantastic to be able to play with a friend and keep each other motivated while stuck inside. You’ll get a ‘Perfect’ if you time it perfectly, an ‘OK’ if your timing is a little off, or a ‘Miss’ if you… well, miss. If your jabs aren’t snappy, if your arms aren’t locked in form as you duck – it may not register, and that may be frustrating at first. The game sets you up with several options, but the two you will probably use the most are the “daily workout” and “free boxing” options. The game has a wide range of different achievements to work towards, some of them are as simple as just getting a three-star rating in a workout, whereas others may take a little effort more time to obtain by throwing a lot of punches, performing a certain amount of exercises with each of the instructors, and more. On higher difficulty levels, the training can be a bit intense, especially for those that are not in the best of shape. After testing and user feedback, Niantic combined both events into one and announced what Pokémon and bonuses would be featured in advance.

Whether it’s either watching or participating in sports, I tend to avoid most things related to them. Save your full efforts for when the pandemic is over and you can launch your punches at something with resistance. You can even shuffle the songs it picks, change the animation in the background for each exercise, and even choose to do a heavier or lighter workout, which will increase or decrease the length of your session respectively.

This suggests that there’s DLC to come, so with any luck that’ll mean more songs, and with even more luck they’ll be free because it would be a bit of a joke to charge us actual money for music that sounds like a 14-year-old learned it on their Yamaha. Fitness Boxing 2 is a good alternative to Ring Fit Adventure if you don't want any additional equipment. I'm happy you were about to get 115 hours out of the first game, but I can't personally see myself coming anywhere close to that with this one: I had it for 2-3 weeks during the review period and was already getting bored with the repetition of songs and moves. Swapping outfits didn’t really enhance gameplay for me personally, but if you’re looking for some variety, maybe it’ll be a feature that you’ll appreciate more. You can unlock tickets which can be used for a specific trainer’s item, but the ability to purchase those items are unlocked separately and completely at random.

Fitness Boxing 2 has difficulty settings, but all it really does is make the session longer, not actually harder. Time your punches perfectly to get into the Zone State, bringing the stage to life and letting you rack up extra points! Okay game if you're willing to slog through hours of boring, slow lessons, before you unlock actual fun lessons. Once the combo meter is full, you gain additional points and the background changes to a more dynamic visual style. Here, you can create your own playlists from the workouts you’ve already unlocked; more can be unlocked by receiving two-star ratings on other workouts. For starters, the calorie counting is wildly off, and I’m saying this as somebody who was a personal trainer for five years.

To describe it simply, it’s an exercise game that uses music to get you to move in rhythm to the beat. When it comes to the trainers, they have slightly different personalities, but the diversity is pretty minimal and not something that got me overly excited. Fitness Boxing comes with charts that determines estimated fitness age and calorie burn based on the height and weight of the player. The default coach is Lin, and there is a total of 5 other coaches (3 female and 2 male), each with customizable appearances. The exercises themselves can be engaging, and it’s nice to keep track of your progress (and the game does give you a fitness age that seems arbitrary, I kept getting in the low 20s although I am far from that), but the amount of unlockables and achievements (which were added to this game and not present in the first) aren’t really enough to keep you going if you don’t like the thought of constantly throwing punches. Following along with moving your whole body gives you a full workout unlike any I’ve experienced in a game before. and © for all products, characters, and indicia related thereto which are contained herein are owned by the companies who market or license those products.
