About this deal

Sophie has also written seven standalone novels which have all been bestsellers in the UK, USA and other countries around the world: Can You Keep A Secret?

Problem is, two other people are planning her wedding: Becky’s overjoyed mother—who has been waiting forever to host a backyard wedding, with the bride resplendent in Mum’s frilly old gown; and her high-society soon-to-be mother-in-law—who insists on a glamorous, all-expenses-paid affair at the Plaza. Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life–and the lives of those around her–forever. Although, I hope Sophie Kinsella will include more and more moments with Luke and Becky in this novel hahaha.

Sophie wrote her first novel under her real name, Madeleine Wickham, at the tender age of 24, whilst she was working as a financial journalist.

And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from the bank –letters with large red sums she can't bear to read–and they're getting ever harder to ignore. I needed a break, so I put it aside and decided to read something that didn't make me want to harm white people.Anyways, this post is neither a book review nor a discussion, it’s more of me just talking and droning on! But Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents hosting, carols playing on repeat, her mother pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors coming ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Half way into the book I felt really sad because I know that there is so many people who this is their reality. That is, until Luke announces he’s moving to New York for business—and he asks Becky to go with him! I have written about this elsewhere in more detail, but the only aspect of our popular culture that runs strictly on merit is sports.

She is a financial journalist telling other people what to do with their money, how to invest, how to save, where to spend, where to not spend but secretly hates it, a boring office job that I think the majority of us can relate to. I've been slowly reading The Love Songs of W E B Du Bois for awhile now and I'm "enjoying" it but GOD! You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. She puts rubber bands round them and puts labels on them saying things like “Answer immediately” and “Not urgent but respond. The first is a plot that is inconsistent in describing the situation in a narrative that is too long, and sometimes the explanation is too short.
