About this deal

This 2012 re-release is a punk, funk, hip-hop classic, overflowing with raunchy guitar and irresistible grooves — 17 cuts and 74 minutes of sonic mayhem over two discs. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. arguably the Chili Peppers most famous song (along side Californication, Under The Bridge etc) just a really all round great song, no more to say.

It contained an insert with band photos that included a photo compilation made up of images of the different group members' tattoos, and with lyrics [45203-4]. It included two printed inner sleeves, one red and one black – each with a band photo on one side and lyrics printed in white on the other.

With a new sound revolving around melodic guitar riffs the band crossed over with this album to large scale success. Only ever had this on tape back in the 90s and then on CD, but to be able to get this version now is a very rewarding experience.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Ah, the title track, this one took me a little while to get into at first, I don't know why. From the likes of the debut album, to Mother's Milk, BSSM provides a more mature and better constructed listen, the songs are meaningful and they truly sound like a different band, I don't know if it was the effect of where they recorded or because Rick Rubin produced this album, but it is essential, I will go through each song and speak about them. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is the fifth studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on September 24, 1991.

I Could Have Lied - A haunting song, you can tell it has a lot of meaning to Anthony, I suspect it's about a failed relationship. The promo has a bit more bass, which, in my opinion, makes Under the Bridge and I Could Have Lied a little TOO bassy.

I’m very curious though if anyone has the 2011 red double blood sugar vinyl and the 2022 that you sent a link too.It briefly comes alive on side 3 for Naked in the Rain and also the guitar intro to Funky Monks but it's not as good as it should have been. This pressing seems to have a more monstrous bass on some songs and overall this pressing has a natural sound to it. The first pressing on my system seems to be the more natural sounding of the two overall but I love both and will keep them in my collection. If you happen to come across a sealed copy of this be careful not to mistake it for a 1991 original European pressing.
