About this deal

I appreciated how the author discussed anxiety and showed how it can affect the lives of people on a daily basis. Swoon-worthy rom-com in the vein of She’s All That and 10 Things I Hate About You follows a teen girl who unwittingly finds herself at the center of a bet while working at a waterpark. However I know that this is most likely an anomaly for me from this author because I have loved so many of her other books. okay so looking back at this i never mentioned the crying in my actual review because i'm NOT joking it was pathetic. Being YA, it was actually kind of the perfect escapist read for me - save for also being a child of divorce, I had nothing in common with the characters, and this suited me just fine.

This is an enemies to friends to lovers story, with some deeper emotions of divorced parents and anxiety. There is probably no “right” way to handle this and every situation is different but we are kind of led to believe that Bailey and her mother were super close before Scott and now it feels like Scott is always there. it took me a long time to warm up to him, and i can say he is my least favorite love interest in any of lynn painter’s books so far. But that was unfortunately overshadowed a lot by some of the other things that I really struggled with, or found didn’t work as they should. His relationship with Bailey was incredibly sweet and I enjoyed them as friends that slowly transitioned into something more. I also wish the fake dating and bets were a bigger part of the book bc that was how it was sold to me, but they didn't last very long. The characters were so much fun to learn about, and I really liked having the dual perspective from Bailey and Charlie. I figured it would prove that I’d be around because I’d want to see him every few days for, like, forever.

Because in the scene mentioned below she's in the kitchen to eat breakfast but in Colorado she apparently doesn't? i was really hoping they'd have a conversation about how bailey felt about her mom and scott's marriage. chill the fuck out, really fucking cute, loud as fuck, for fuck's sake, fucking chump, fuck me, and more! she did fall for c-dog, and also tried to sabotage her mom's relationship with a wonderful guy; but i'm not a child of divorce, so i don't know how hard it could be to adjust to a new "dad". i updated my earlier mantra and shouted from the rooftops: i would probably read any book that was categorized as YA and written by lynn painter.Soon, what Charlie was hoping to avoid becomes a reality as Bailey starts to see him as not only a friend she can rely on in the midst of family drama—but someone who makes her hands shake and heart race. In the beginning I loved the hints but after a while I got annoyed AND THIS IS COMING FROM A SWIFTY! We really saw both of our main characters come together through shared experiences and the feeling of having their lives turned upside down.
