About this deal

You can use an RJ45 cable, but I don’t advise experimenting with plugging the Xone K2 into networks! But I can see myself going back to Live tbh, if only bc the timestretch sounds better, although I thought it was the same algorithm that was used by Serato which has the worst sounding timestretch/keylock imho. THESE LIMITATIONS DO NOT APPLY TO ANY LIABILITIES THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED BY APPLICABLE LAWS.

You could map it to Ableton Live, Traktor, Virtual DJ, MixVibes and so on, you might use it for VJing, for controlling lighting even.I’d have preferred to have seen some sort of riser system built into the case that can be removed and allows a Xone K2 to sit right in the cut between two other pieces of equipment, or even possibly a built in kick stand system, but I’m splitting hairs a little bit here.

It is black, with a rubberised base and sides but with a brushed metal decal down the left and right bearing the Xone logo. Not only can the Xone:K2 be used to control any software that can receive or transmit Midi, the built-in audio interface means that, unlike say the Traktor Kontrol X1, there’s no need to carry a separate audio interface with you. Adittionally, I’ve still got a lot of ‘room’ after mapping everyhting I want: theres loads of combinations I havn’t even started to look into, making the K2 an awesome place to practice and keep pushing for new ideas and techniques. I was still able to control EQ with both the K2 and the DJ mixer which was handy as although my old mixer has nice EQs, it doesn't have kill switches which were easily mapped on the K2. The XONE K2 features a configurable MIDI interface complete with tri-color LED lighting, a USB power supply and proprietary X:LINK interface for perfect interaction with other Xone series devices.Likewise, if you play in cramped DJ booths or in places where you never know how much space you’re going to have, and aren’t prepared to switch to CDJs in such circumstances, you’ve now got an alternative to using a Traktor Kontrol X1. standard RJ45 connector and distributes power and data, which means two K2s can be connected to your software using only one USB port. The crazy amount of dynamic range and clarity from its Xone DB brethren isn’t quite there, but there are no concerns from me about the quality of the sound. With no fewer than 52 hardware controls providing up to 171 MIDI commands across 3 layers – plus the ability to link multiple units using X:LINK, saving USB ports on your computer – Xone:K2 has the power and flexibility to put you in touch with the functions and features of your chosen software. Overall all I am satisfied with this controller, I recommend this controller for those persons that like to create their personal mappings.

Xone:K2 has 52 physical controls - including 12 analogue and 6 endless rotary encoders with push switch, 4 linear faders, and 30 backlit performance switches - providing up to 171 MIDI control commands across 3 layers. Sound Quality: It doesn’t run as hot as an NI box, and it doesn’t quite ‘glisten’ in the same way that a well designed 24 bit card does, but I’ve no complaints as to the sound level or quality. The latching layers enable you to delegate controls to multiple layers, allowing you to use a single control in three different ways. Given, you can do the same with a normal fader but these specific faders on the K2 cradle your finger, avoiding them to slip. Since getting an Ableton Push, my APC40 seemed a little big and heavy - this pretty much replaces all of the functionality the the Push is missing in a nice small package.to include our and our licensors’ copyright notices on all entire and partial copies you make of the Software or any third party software we supply on any medium. Having three ‘universal’ layers and simply duplicating mappings between them for controls that you don’t want to change does more or less the same thing as latching certain sections of the controller, indeed providing even more flexibility still. Allen Xone:k2 actually exceeded my expectations, because I didnt expect it to have internal soundcard.
